Public park on the causeway of Tangenziale Est of Rome
location Rome (IT)
area 26.700 sqm
year 2007
research project presented in 2008 at the “5th European Biennial of Landscape Architecture” of Barcellona.
The deviation of the route of the Tangenziale Est of Rome, which provides for the exclusion of the portion of the causeway of San Lorenzo from vehicular traffic, it allows to implement the redevelopment of this massive public infrastructure. The project area includes 26,700 square meters of raised ground, spread over two flights a kilometer and a half long. His conversion from fast mobility space into public green space allows to give back to the people of San Lorenzo district a structure, which for years has been a strong discomfort.
The project provides for a system of pedestrian and cycle paths, elevators and stairs (linking the two flights each other and with the ground level), belvederes, space for parking, a bar, meeting spaces, spaces for events (concerts, conferences, exhibitions, installations, meetings, …).
